My Involvement on UC's Campus
McMicken Ambassadors:
Through my involvement in the McMicken Ambassadors program in the McMicken College of Arts & Sciences at UC, I get to meet with prospective students and share information about the school and my personal experience. I present to groups of students in College Close-Ups meetings held for prospective students, talk individually with students and faculty during Bearcat Brunches, and meet with students during campus Open Houses. As a group, we participate in various community service projects throughout the year. I really like how being involved with the ambassadors program has helped me reflect on my positive experiences at UC and get to share advice with future college students. This program gives me the potential to help shape prospective students' view of the school and hopefully encourage them to become Bearcats as well.

UC Student Government: Director of Health and Fitness
I am very excited about the opportunity to begin working with Student Government this fall and have ideas for various initiatives I hope to help implement this fall. I have begun working with students involved with the Real Food Challenge and hope to help make their goals a reality. I plan to work with various existing groups on campus to provide fun, informative, programming on campus to give students the tools to balance healthy, active lifestyles with course work and social obligations.

CHAARG: Changing Health Actions and Attitudes to Recreate Girls
This girls health and fitness club is all about promoting a healthy lifestyle and creating a fun support group for girls trying to balance a healthy diet and workout routine with the busy life of a college student. Last year I worked as an Event Coordinator and was a founding member of the University of Cincinnati chapter of the club (it was originally founded at Ohio State). I was responsible for contacting health and fitness experts and instructors in the Cincinnati area, scheduling weekly events, and writing a blog following each event. As we founded this group during the winter of 2012, recruitment was also a large part of my responsibilities. We greatly surpassed our original recruitment goal of about 30 girls and had over 100 members and it continues to grow. I also helped lead weekly workouts and runs for CHAARG members. It was a great experience getting involved with CHAARG and getting to meet lots of new girls who all share a passion for the same things.

Kappa Kappa Gamma
As a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, I participate in various philanthropy events throughout the year. Most recently, I volunteered at Girls Academy: a weekend leadership workshop for middle school girls organized by Kappa. Coming up soon we have a large Reading is Key event through the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cincinnati. We have been preparing throughout the year collecting books and supplies and will spend time volunteering with kids at various Boys and Girls Clubs locations this spring. We also support the local women's shelter, Bethany House, through our fall "Walk a Mile In Her Shoes" fundraiser, and Kappa Kidney Camp through various fundraisers throughout the year. I am a member of the Education Committee and help plan monthly educational programming meetings for our members. Getting involved with Kappa after transferring to UC at the start of my sophomore year was a great experience. It allowed me to meet a group of strong, motivated young women who were leaders on campus, and in the community, and greatly successful in their respective academic fields. Kappa has helped me increase my involvement, stay motivated academically, and helped give me a great college experience at UC.

Yoga Club
I have gotten involved with the UC Yoga Club as both a member and a regular volunteer teacher. This has been a great experience for me as it has gave me a low pressure environment to practice teaching as I worked towards completing my 200 hour teacher training program at It's Yoga Cincinnati. I have experienced huge benefits from maintaining a regular yoga practice throughout my college years from strengthening my body and preventing running injuries to decreasing stress and increasing mental stability. I am passionate about trying to help more students realize the many benefits yoga can bring and getting involved in this club offers a great medium to do so. It offers a fun, relaxed, and free environment where experience yogis can practice together and new students can try yoga for the first time.

sustainUC:
I have recently gotten involved with this UC group which acts as a coalition of other campus organizations and encourages them to incorporate sustainability into their group's goals and practices. I am in the process of developing a plan for my sorority to begin to incorporate sustainable practices. I am also working to help organize the sustainUC Fair coming up in April which will help educate and encourage UC students to see how they can do more with less and live more sustainable lifestyles even in college.
